In August 1987, Thames Television began 24-hour broadcasting with its own overnight schedule on weeknights while LWT filled the post-Night Network slot with a short-lived ‘Thru to 6′ strand. Thames’ Into the Night strand began during the summer of 1987 with broadcasts originally running until around 4am. Thames used In-vision continuity for all links between programmes with an nearly all female team of announcers including Victoria Crawford, Evadne Fisher, Lorna Stevens, Patricia Yorston and the longest severing Sally McLaren (1987-91). Tom Edwards did a few shifts in 1987. In April 1991 a jointly run Night-time branding was introduced.
