Viva was a music television channel in the United Kingdom and Ireland, owned by Viacom International Media Networks Europe. The channel launched on 26 October 2009, replacing TMF, and ceased broadcasting on 31 January 2018.
Countdown to Launch
The launch of Viva was presented by X Factor winner Alexandra Burke who performed her single ‘Bad Boys’ in front of a studio audience. The first music video to be played on the new channel was “The Spell” by Alphabeat.
These are the first set of idents for the channel – “Up your Viva”. Originally over 20 were created. The set was replaced during the summer of 2010 with “Lick Your Viva”. However, in September 2010, three of the idents – shown below – were reintroduced to replace “Lick your Viva”.
Summer 2010 – Lick your Viva
In the Summer of 2010 Viva introduced a new set of idents and break bumpers “Lick your Viva”. On September 1st 2010 they were withdrawn, after claims there were offensive, with the previous Up Your Viva set being reintroduced.
